We are renting an apartment within a villa by the Azaiba beach. The first floor has rooms used for church services and a nursery. The second floor has more classrooms and our master's suite. The fancy staircase lead
s up to a large room on the third level, and the stain-glass dome.Behind the villa is a smaller building that is comprised of our kitchen, laundry room, and maid's quarters. An Indian woman and her husband maintain the villa and share our kitchen. Living with a detached kitchen has been an adventure with young children, but we are lucky to have authentic Indian meals prepared for us a few times per week!
Unlike most expats, we went for the economy rental car rental rather than the 4-wheel drive. Driving in Oman is exciting, but not as scary as I expected. I get honked at occasionally for driving too conservatively (driving the speed limit, not beating the car next to me off the line at a traffic signal), although no one seems to mind if I pull out in front of someone or change lanes unexpectedly. Oh, and after only a couple of weeks, I'm feeling pretty confident with the 3-lane roundabouts!
